Heard of the <\/span>\u2018Speedfactory<\/span><\/a>\u2019 in Germany? Launched by Adidas in collaboration with <\/span>Oechsler Motion<\/span>, it is a smart factory in Ansbach, Germany, which manufactures 3D printed products. Their goal is simple: To reduce production time and to meet the global consumer demands. <\/span><\/p>\n

Thinking along those lines, Malaysia is taking its own step towards introducing factory automation to local SME manufacturers. Spearheaded by KnowledgeCom, <\/a>Beyond 4<\/strong> is an initiative to incorporate industry 4.0<\/a> practices and technology into local businesses\u2019 operations. This initiative will be undertaken through the collaboration with several prominent technology service companies in the region and we are proud to say that Lava Protocols<\/strong> is one of them.<\/span><\/p>\n

The nine partners\/companies came together last Friday (March 22nd) to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to mark their efforts to deliver IT solutions and drive digital transformation among local manufacturers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Quoted in an article by the <\/a><\/span>New Straits Times<\/span><\/i>, KnowledgeCom\u2019s chief executive officer, ST Rubaneswaran said: \u201cIf local manufacturers don\u2019t adopt the fourth industrial revolution (IR 4.0), they will lose out on market share. Based on our survey, smart factories can enable the Malaysian manufacturing industry to immediately increase their return on investment in overall productivity within six-12 months.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

He added, \u201cThe partnership is the first of its kind in the country and will be a game changer to empower Malaysia as a leader in digital economy in Southeast Asia.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The cost to convert to a smart factory ranges between RM200,000 to RM500,000, depending on the size of the factory.<\/span><\/p>\n
