When was the last time you used a different search engine like Yahoo or Bing? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These are important questions because according to <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/gs.statcounter.com\/search-engine-market-share\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">StatCounter<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, as of 2019, the world market share for internet search using Google is 92.04%. This is followed by Yahoo at 2.67% and Bing at 2.39%. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Australian digital agency <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ardorseo.com\/blog\/how-many-google-searches-per-day-2019\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ardo Seo<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> revealed that Google has approximately 7 to10 billion searches each day!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fascinating isn\u2019t it? I think it\u2019s safe to say that Google\u2019s algorithm for its search results is not equivalent to anything else in the world. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What\u2019s more interesting is the backstory of Google\u2019s success. Even though we may feel like we know all there is to know about Google since we use it on a regular basis but I\u2019d bet you didn\u2019t know Google wasn\u2019t called \u201cGoogle\u201d initially. Google.com was a domain registered in 1997 but before that, it was called \u00a0\u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/gizmodo.com\/google-was-originally-called-backrub-1605435217\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BackRub<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Why? Google may have a huge office now but according to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/business\/2008\/sep\/05\/google.google\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Guardian<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, when it first started out in 1998, Google\u2019s workspace was only a small garage in Silicon Valley. However, by the following year, they outgrew the garage office and moved into a more professional office with eight employees. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the early 2000s, the first 10 language versions of Google.com were released <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">French, German, Italian, Sweden, Finnish, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Norwegian, Danish. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That same year, Google partnered with Yahoo.com to become its default search provider. Because of this decision, people became more aware of Google and in return, became the world\u2019s largest search engine with the first billion URL index, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/business\/2008\/sep\/05\/google.google\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Guardian<\/span><\/i><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reported. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2002, Google partnered with AOL (the American online service provider) and launched Google News with over 4,000 sources. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2004, Gmail was launched and the company went public. The following year saw the launch of Google Maps. 2006 was the year when Google acquired famous video-sharing site, Youtube. In 2008, Google Chrome was launched. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There\u2019s a lot more to the history of Google, but the above are just some of their significant milestones. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><b>What Makes Google Unique?<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google offers a plethora of features and products for their users. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/edu.google.com\/products\/classroom\/?modal_active=none\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google Classroom<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, for example, is a web service that helps teachers stay organized, communicate with their class, gather feedback, hand out assignments, and have everything in one place. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gsuite.google.com\/products\/cloud-search\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google Cloud Search<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> enables you to search across your company\u2019s content (Drive, Gmail, Calendar, etc.) seamlessly and even get relevant recommendations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There\u2019s also <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/assistant.google.com\/explore?hl=en_us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google Assistant<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, an AI-powered virtual assistant that can help you get things done a lot faster such as helping you to order food or clean the house (by communicating with a robot cleaner).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the business context, <a href=\"https:\/\/lavaprotocols.com\/email-and-collaboration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">G Suite<\/a> is incredibly useful. By having your Gmail, Drive, Calendar, and Docs in one place, users can easily navigate between each app and collaborate with other users seamlessly.
